A New Zodiac Sign

Astrology has just gotten weirder. Ever wonder if it were possible for your personality to magically switch all because of the Earth’s sudden tilt shifting dramatically? Apparently it’s possible enough for there to be a very new astrological sign right in between Scorpio and Sagittarius, completely altering the whole Zodiac. If you were a Cancer, guess what–you’re now a Gemini.

The new sign apparently created is none other than the snake holder Ophiuchus. Due to the sudden shift in the Earth’s rotation, thereby changing the alignment of the stars, the constellation designated as Ophiuchus has been born. It’s an interesting development in astrology. Here’s some more to know:

Astrology is derived from Greek mythology. The story went with Typhon facing the gods; unfortunately every Olympian save Zeus himself fled and morphed into a magical creature–hence such signs as the Aries (goat) or the Leo (lion). Ophiuchus, however, was a different story; and the closest to him is the fable of a “transgender” named Tiresias who was asked by both Zeus and Hera about who enjoyed sex more, men or women. Goddess of wisdom Athena naturally associated with the symbol of wisdom being the serpent (hence the “snake holder”), cursed Tiresias after coming across two mating serpents who he then tried to ‘interrupt’ or ‘hold.’ Athena turned him from male to female as punishment. Naturally, Tiresias figured if he did the exact same thing again, Athena would change him back–smart guy (actually girl) in thinking that, because Athena did. Zeus knew this about Tiresias, and that’s why he asked him/her about sex. The rest of the story is rather inconsequential except to say that Hera was not happy (apparently women enjoy sex more). She cursed Tiresias with blindness.

To this day, it the most ‘accurate’ story surrounding the constellation of Ophiuchus. What does that make you if that’s your sign? A blind transgender snake handler? Strange….
